Specialist Groups
Specialist groups provide additional opportunities for choristers demonstrating exceptional ability.
Specialist vocal ensembles consist of 25-35 auditioned choristers nominated by their tutor. Each week, in addition to their usual class, girls undertake rehearsals to work on more complicated repertoire. The group also presents a separate item at Australian Girls Choir concerts. There is no charge for these classes.
The specialist groups are:
(all states) selected from Prelude and Concert Levels
Bel Canto (all states) selected from Performing Choir
Ballare is a dance group selected, by audition, from the Performing Choir. The group is limited to sixteen girls. Ballare rehearses with the State Choreographer for an extra hour each week. An additional tuition fee is charged.
Stellata is a class that forms anew each semester comprising Vivo to Concert choristers who have been selected for a solo or special part in a concert. As well as workshopping their individual special part, choristers will also acquire skills in performance and presentation, microphone technique, projection and characterisation.
