What does the AGC offer its choristers?
The Australian Girls Choir provides a fun, learning environment in which girls gain a rounded Performing Arts education.
The founding philosophy of the Australian Girls Choir is that every child can sing given the correct training, opportunity and encouragement.
We offer tuition for girls in singing, dance and drama in a fun and enjoyable environment. No previous musical experience is required to join the choir, just enthusiasm and an interest in singing. In addition to vocal training, our choristers are also encouraged to develop movement and performance skills - even our most junior choristers have the opportunity to perform in some of Australia's largest concert halls.
The choir has performed with many of Australia's finest entertainers and artists, and in almost every major concert venue around the country. Some of our highlights in recent years include the Qantas 'I Still Call Australia Home' advertising campaigns, and performing with Hugh Jackman in the 'Boy from Oz' Arena Musical.
Senior choristers have the opportunity to participate in national and international tours. We aim for the highest standard in performance and presentation, and our girls have received widespread acclaim in hundreds of performances in Australia and around the world.
The comments most frequently heard from parents and girls, however, do not pertain only to the standard and quality of the singing. Long standing members of the choir have listed the following as some of the most important aspects of their years within the choir:
-
enormous growth in their self esteem and confidence
-
lifelong friendships they have made
-
excellent public speaking skills they develop
-
development of leadership and time management skills
