TEACHING STAFF
The Australian Girls Choir seeks music teachers who have broad Performing Arts skills and are interested in teaching a curriculum that is more 'music theatre' than 'traditional choral' to girls ranging in age from 5 - 15 years. Our innovative approach to the choir model, and professional standards of performance, require Tutors who are energetic, spontaneous and flexible. Tutors must be able to participate well in a team and have their own sense of musical identity and teaching practice.

All teaching hours and rehearsals are paid, usually consisting of one weeknight or Saturday morning per week in school term, some weekend rehearsals and two concerts per year. As the classes are extra curricular we find that many of our casual staff hold full time positions outside of employment with the Australian Girls Choir. Positions are suitable for classroom teachers and music theatre practitioners and those who work in other fields and are looking for an outlet to share their passion for music. Please note, we accept applications from tertiary performing arts/education students who have not yet completed their studies. 

We are also seeking people who are interested in becoming dance instructors for our school programs (a3-Australian Arts Alive). These comprehensive dance programmes incorporate school curriculum packages and workshops for a school concert or disco night.

Applicants should have:

• at least 5 years of proven dance training in jazz and/or ballet or aerobics/gymnastics,
• a willingness to learn and teach the RED curriculum,
• experience working with children/excellent ability to relate to and motivate children,
• passion for promoting and inspiring a love of dance/aerobics,
• a fitness focus with basic to good anatomical knowledge,
• an energetic, committed and enthusiastic personality, and
• a current police check for working with children (or the ability to obtain one).
